PUPPY TRAINING & SOCIALIZATION CLASS

Train Them Young:

Puppy Class is for puppies 10 weeks to 6 months of age. (Exceptions may be made for small breeds but generally after six months they belong in the Basic Obedience Class.) In a perfect world, pups would start at 10-12 weeks old, with veterinary approval.

This seven week course focuses on socialization and basic obedience commands which lay the foundation for your pup to grow into a happy and well-behaved dog. It’s also just a lot of fun! There will be short discussions on behavior issues but in-depth assistance is done through private training. Please click this link for info on private training.

Course Includes:

Your pup will learn to love learning!

Thriving Canine’s unique “blended” training style is rewarding and fun but it’s also serious about getting results. This means we will be using plenty of praise, affection and treats but it’s not entirely reward-based. Your pup will also learn to “yield to pressure” which means teaching your pup to accept leash and body pressure in as positive, non-threatening and playful a manner as possible. You will also learn the responsible, non-harmful use of corrections. It is very important that the overall experience conditions your puppy to love learning and love going to “puppy school” but it’s also important that they receive reliable, results-based training. A complete communication system includes both “Yes” and “No” – it makes obedience rewarding as well as mandatory. It’s much easier to train these skills in puppy-hood than it is to rehabilitate an adult dog that’s gone off the rails.
